American Truck Simulator's South Dakota DLC Reveals New Industries — SCS Software Expands the Open Road Again
SCS Software has unveiled a fresh look at the upcoming South Dakota DLC for American Truck Simulator, showcasing several new industries and custom depots that will make the expansion feel more authentic than ever. The developers revealed unique businesses inspired by the real economy of South Dakota, giving virtual truckers a wider variety of cargoes and delivery destinations when the new state arrives.

Among the highlights are trailer manufacturing plants in Watertown and Mitchell, where players will transport industrial components and finished trailers. Residential housing developments in Watertown and Spearfish introduce construction-related deliveries, while Sioux Falls features a brand-new custom food factory, allowing drivers to haul raw ingredients in and finished products out. These bespoke locations have been created specifically for the South Dakota expansion rather than reusing existing assets, adding more variety to the game's economy.
According to SCS Software, these industries are only a small preview of what the South Dakota DLC will offer. The expansion will also include new towns, scenic highways, truck stops, and famous landmarks across the Mount Rushmore State, continuing the studio's effort to recreate the United States with increasingly detailed environments and region-specific businesses. The DLC is already available to wishlist on Steam, although an official release date has not yet been announced.
The South Dakota DLC is expected to be the next major expansion for American Truck Simulator, following the recent releases of Louisiana and Illinois. By introducing unique industries alongside carefully recreated locations, SCS Software continues to make every new state feel distinct, giving long-haul drivers fresh routes, new cargo types, and even more reasons to hit the road when South Dakota finally opens its borders.
