The acclaimed Persona franchise could be the next major video game series to receive a live-action adaptation. According to a new report, Netflix is developing a television series based on Atlus' Persona universe in partnership with 21 Laps Entertainment—the production company behind Stranger Things—and Story Kitchen, the studio responsible for several upcoming game adaptations. While the project is still in its early stages, the news has already generated enormous excitement among JRPG fans.

At the moment, neither Netflix nor Atlus has revealed which game the series will adapt. The report states that the show could be based on Persona 3, Persona 4, Persona 5, or even tell a completely original story set within the Persona universe. Christopher Monfette is reportedly attached as writer, executive producer, and showrunner, while Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps, alongside producers from Story Kitchen and Sega, are expected to oversee the project.

The announcement comes at a major moment for the franchise. Persona 6 was officially revealed earlier this month with a teaser trailer showcasing a darker tone and an entirely new cast of characters, while Persona 4 Revival is scheduled to launch in early 2027. Although the live-action series has not been directly linked to either game, many fans believe the adaptation could help introduce the long-running RPG franchise to an even wider audience.

For now, the Persona TV series remains in early development, with no casting announcements or release window confirmed. Even so, Netflix's growing investment in video game adaptations—including successful projects based on major gaming franchises—suggests the company sees significant potential in Atlus' beloved RPG series. If the adaptation successfully captures Persona's blend of supernatural mystery, stylish storytelling, and unforgettable characters, it could become one of the streaming platform's most anticipated gaming projects in the coming years.
