Developer Aeos Games has shared new details about the creation of Unleash the Avatar, explaining the philosophy behind its ambitious action RPG inspired by Indian mythology, history, and culture. The independent studio says its goal is not simply to imitate the Soulslike formula, but to combine challenging combat with a setting rarely explored in modern video games.

According to the team, Unleash the Avatar takes place in the fictional land of Vishwapur, an alternate version of India where mythology and reality intertwine. Players assume the role of Vikram, a warrior who wields a mystical Chakra alongside traditional sword combat. Rather than relying solely on familiar Soulslike mechanics, the developers designed the Chakra as a core gameplay feature, allowing players to throw, curve, recall, and teleport to the weapon to create dynamic combat combinations and traversal options.

The studio also revealed how authenticity has shaped the game's visual design. Team members traveled across India to capture thousands of real-world scanned materials and environmental assets, recreating temples, architecture, landscapes, and cultural details with a high level of realism. Despite being a relatively small independent team, Aeos Games includes artists and animators who have previously contributed to projects such as Ghost of Tsushima, Hogwarts Legacy, Horizon Forbidden West, and several major film productions.

Beyond its setting, the developers emphasize that player mastery remains the heart of the experience. Combat is built around precise timing, perfect parries, mobility, and experimentation with different Chakra abilities rather than simple character statistics. Aeos Games says community feedback continues to influence development as the project moves toward its planned Fall 2026 release on PC, with the team aiming to deliver a Soulslike adventure that stands out through its original mechanics and its celebration of Indian mythology and culture.
