Black Ops Duo Surpasses 7 Million Players on PS4 and PS5 in Just One Week

The recently released PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II have made an explosive debut, attracting more than seven million players within their first week. According to the latest available player statistics, Black Ops II accounted for approximately 5.25 million players, while the original Black Ops added nearly two million, highlighting the enduring popularity of Treyarch's classic shooters more than a decade after their original launches.

The impressive numbers demonstrate the lasting appeal of the Black Ops series despite the minimal enhancements included in the new PlayStation releases. Rather than full remasters, both titles were re-released as straightforward ports, yet nostalgia and renewed multiplayer activity proved enough to push them near the top of the PlayStation Store sales charts. Some reports even suggest the combined player count has exceeded that of the latest Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 across PlayStation platforms.

The launch has not been entirely smooth, however. Shortly after release, players began reporting widespread cheating, XP exploits, and progression issues in multiplayer. Activision responded by temporarily disabling several playlists while deploying server-side fixes to address the most serious problems.
