Atlus has confirmed that acclaimed animation studio MAPPA will produce all animated cutscenes for Persona 4 Revival, marking a major upgrade to the remake's presentation. The announcement was made during Anime Expo 2026, where the developer revealed that every anime-style cinematic sequence in the game is being created by the studio behind hits such as Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and the final season of Attack on Titan.

Unlike previous Persona titles, where animation studios typically handled only selected opening movies or story sequences, Persona 4 Revival will feature MAPPA-produced animation throughout the entire game. Atlus says this approach is intended to deliver a far more cinematic experience, with smoother transitions between gameplay and story moments, more expressive character performances, and higher-quality visual storytelling. The studio also revealed that MAPPA's animation director revisited Persona 1 through Persona 4 before beginning work on the project to better understand the series' identity and atmosphere.

The partnership continues Atlus' tradition of collaborating with leading Japanese animation studios. Persona 3 Reload featured animated sequences produced by WIT Studio, while Production I.G created the anime cutscenes for Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal. By selecting MAPPA for the remake, Atlus aims to give Persona 4 Revival its own distinctive visual identity while preserving the emotional moments that made the original RPG so memorable.

Persona 4 Revival is scheduled to launch on February 18, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with day-one Xbox Game Pass availability already confirmed. Alongside fully remade visuals, updated gameplay systems, and modern quality-of-life improvements, MAPPA's involvement represents one of the remake's biggest production upgrades, promising a presentation that feels closer to a premium anime series than ever before.
