Ubisoft has released a new behind-the-scenes feature for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, exploring the historical reality behind some of the most famous pirate legends. Titled "Pirate Myths vs Reality," the video explains how the development team collaborated with historians to separate fact from fiction while recreating the Golden Age of Piracy for the upcoming remake.

The presentation examines several well-known pirate stereotypes, including buried treasure, walking the plank, and the classic "Arrr!" accent popularized by films and television. According to Ubisoft, many of these traditions were either extremely rare or entirely fictional. Instead, the team focused on depicting the everyday lives of Caribbean pirates through historically inspired ships, ports, clothing, naval warfare, and political rivalries, while still preserving the adventurous spirit that made the original game so memorable.

The developers explained that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced aims to balance historical authenticity with cinematic gameplay. While players will still encounter legendary figures such as Blackbeard, the remake includes updated dialogue, expanded story content, and modernized gameplay systems without abandoning the historical setting that defined the 2013 classic. The educational video is part of Ubisoft's broader promotional campaign highlighting the research behind the remake's world and characters.

Launching on July 9, 2026, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced brings the pirate adventure to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC with rebuilt visuals, enhanced naval gameplay, expanded underwater exploration, improved combat, and new story content. Ubisoft says the latest documentary offers fans a deeper appreciation of the real history that inspired one of the franchise's most beloved entries while dispelling many of the myths that have shaped pirate fiction for generations.
