Legendary composer Paul Romero, best known for his iconic work on the Heroes of Might & Magic series, has revealed that not all of his creative ideas made it into Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era. During a recent interview, Romero explained that several musical concepts—including fully vocal compositions—were ultimately rejected by developer Unfrozen, despite being professionally recorded. He also briefly mentioned contributing music to an unannounced Ubisoft project, though he did not reveal any details about the game.

According to Romero, one of the discarded pieces was a song titled "The Olden Era," recorded with vocalist Magdalena Katańska and musician Todd Masten. Hoping to capture the spirit of the classic Heroes soundtracks, Romero later invited Grant Youngblood, the singer who previously worked on Heroes of Might and Magic II, to record another version. However, Unfrozen ultimately decided against including vocal tracks in the game, opting instead for an entirely instrumental soundtrack. Romero stressed that he respected the studio's creative decision, even though he was personally fond of the compositions.

Despite those rejected ideas, Romero remains one of the principal composers behind Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era, working alongside Cris Velasco and the Heroes Orchestra to create the game's score. The developers previously confirmed that the soundtrack combines brand-new compositions with orchestral reinterpretations of classic Heroes themes, aiming to honor the series' musical legacy while introducing fresh material for longtime fans.

During the same interview, Romero also revealed that he has composed music for a secret Ubisoft project that has yet to be announced publicly. He offered no hints about the game's identity, genre, or release window, saying only that the project remains under wraps. As a result, fans have begun speculating about what Ubisoft title could feature Romero's music, but for now there is no official information beyond the composer's brief confirmation that such a collaboration exists.
