Marvel Rivals Season 9 Completely Revamps Team-Up System With New Hero Abilities

NetEase Games has unveiled a major overhaul of the Team-Up system coming to Marvel Rivals in Season 9: The Mystery of Thebes. The update replaces the existing rotating Team-Up mechanics with a redesigned system that gives every hero two Team-Up abilities, allowing players to choose one before a match and switch between them while in the spawn room. According to the developers, the goal is to create more strategic team compositions while making every character feel more impactful in combat.

The rework introduces dozens of new abilities across the entire roster, alongside redesigned interactions for Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist heroes. Several classic Team-Ups have been reimagined, while others return with updated effects and improved balance. NetEase also confirmed that Team-Up abilities will no longer rotate each season, with future updates focusing on balance adjustments instead of replacing the system entirely.

Season 9 also includes extensive hero balance changes, a major rework for Black Widow, and the arrival of Jubilee as a new playable character. The update aims to reshape the game's competitive meta by encouraging new team combinations and giving players more flexibility when building their squads. The developers say nearly 80% of the roster has received adjustments as part of the patch.

Marvel Rivals Season 9: The Mystery of Thebes launches on July 10, bringing one of the largest gameplay updates since the game's release. With its redesigned Team-Up mechanics, new hero abilities, and sweeping balance changes, the season is expected to significantly change how matches are played across both casual and competitive modes.
