SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have released a brand-new trailer for Virtua Fighter Crossroads, introducing one of the game's most mysterious characters—the Bakunawa Killer. Unveiled during EVO 2026, the cinematic showcases the masked assassin at the center of a string of violent attacks that have shaken the city of Vilasapara, while offering another glimpse into the game's ambitious story mode.

The trailer follows Pai Chan and newcomer Cielo as they investigate the elusive killer, whose identity remains one of the biggest mysteries surrounding the game. Brief combat sequences reveal the Bakunawa Killer's aggressive martial arts style, combining lightning-fast strikes with brutal finishing moves. Although SEGA has yet to reveal the character's true background, the footage suggests the assassin will play a central role in the game's narrative and will also be playable in Battle Mode.
Unlike previous entries in the series, Virtua Fighter Crossroads places a strong emphasis on cinematic storytelling alongside its signature fighting mechanics. Developed by the creators of the Like a Dragon franchise, the game features multiple protagonists, branching storylines, side quests, and an explorable version of Vilasapara, blending traditional one-on-one combat with an action-adventure experience.
Virtua Fighter Crossroads is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. With each new trailer revealing more of its world and characters, SEGA continues to build anticipation for what could become the most ambitious entry in the legendary fighting game series. The arrival of the mysterious Bakunawa Killer adds another layer of intrigue, leaving fans eager to uncover the truth behind the masked assassin when the game finally launches.
