PlayStation 6 is already being tipped as the clear winner of the next console generation. According to a new forecast from Ampere Analysis, Sony's PS6 is expected to outsell Microsoft's next Xbox, codenamed Project Helix, by around 10 million units before 2030, reinforcing PlayStation's dominant position in the console market despite increasing competition.

Analysts estimate that PlayStation 6 could reach approximately 38 million units sold, while Xbox Project Helix is projected to finish at around 28 million units during the same period. The report argues that Sony enters the next generation with several major advantages, including a significantly larger installed player base, stronger brand recognition, a consistent lineup of blockbuster first-party exclusives, and continued momentum from the PlayStation ecosystem.

Despite the prediction, analysts emphasize that Microsoft's next console is far from doomed. Recent reports suggest Project Helix remains a key priority for Xbox and is expected to introduce a more PC-like ecosystem with deeper Windows integration, expanded compatibility, and new hardware features. If Microsoft successfully executes that strategy, the sales gap could narrow over time. However, current forecasts still favor Sony, especially if PlayStation continues to dominate premium console software sales.
