Beast of Reincarnation Reveals 5 Minutes of Brutal Combat — Game Freak Shows Its Most Ambitious RPG Yet
Game Freak has released an extended five-minute gameplay showcase for Beast of Reincarnation, offering the clearest look yet at the game's fast-paced combat system just weeks before launch. The new footage highlights intense boss battles, sword combat, companion abilities, and exploration mechanics, reinforcing why many players already consider it one of 2026's most anticipated action RPGs.

The gameplay focuses on protagonist Emma and her loyal companion Koo, who fight together using a unique "one-person, one-dog" combat system. Emma relies on precise katana attacks, perfectly timed parries, dodges, and powerful finishing moves, while Koo provides tactical support through special abilities that become available after successful defensive actions. Players can briefly slow combat to issue commands to Koo, creating a hybrid system that blends real-time action with strategic decision-making.
The presentation also showcases several gameplay mechanics beyond combat. Emma uses vine-like abilities to swing across gaps, climb cliffs, and eliminate enemies with stealth attacks, while Koo helps locate hidden treasures and warns players about nearby threats. The footage confirms skill trees, equipment upgrades, cooking mechanics that grant temporary buffs, and large semi-open environments filled with optional bosses and exploration opportunities.
Scheduled to launch on August 4, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with Xbox Game Pass available on day one, Beast of Reincarnation represents Game Freak's boldest project outside the Pokémon franchise. Judging by the latest gameplay reveal, the studio is aiming to deliver a challenging action RPG that combines stylish combat, deep progression, and a haunting post-apocalyptic world unlike anything it has created before.
