SHORAPAN: Beneath the Crimson Sky Brings a Dark Psychological Horror Adventure to Steam
Steam users can now wishlist SHORAPAN: Beneath the Crimson Sky, a newly announced psychological horror visual novel that blends unsettling storytelling with hand-crafted artwork and a richly atmospheric world. Set in a mysterious city trapped beneath an eternal crimson sky, the game introduces players to a haunting narrative centered on rigid social rules, hidden secrets, and choices that shape the fate of its characters. The newly launched Steam page offers the first detailed look at the project, revealing an ambitious indie title focused on narrative depth and immersive presentation rather than traditional horror tropes.

The story begins when an unexpected visitor knocks on the protagonist's door, setting off a chain of disturbing events throughout the isolated settlement. According to the developers, the branching script took four years to complete and features multiple story paths and endings designed to encourage replayability. Rather than relying on static scenes, SHORAPAN: Beneath the Crimson Sky emphasizes environmental interaction, allowing players to engage with objects throughout each location while subtle visual effects bring every scene to life. Animated backgrounds, flickering candlelight, shifting shadows, rainfall, and layered visual elements are intended to create a stronger sense of depth and immersion during conversations and exploration.
The game's artistic direction draws inspiration from several well-known creative influences, including the surreal paintings of Zdzisław Beksiński, the cosmic horror of H. P. Lovecraft, the philosophical themes found in Fyodor Dostoevsky's works, and the dark fantasy atmosphere of Berserk. The developers have also cited Pathologic as a key influence when crafting the game's unsettling world. Every background and character illustration is being painted by hand instead of relying on pre-made assets, helping the visual novel establish a distinctive identity. Complementing the artwork will be an original soundtrack, full voice acting in both English and Russian, and subtitles translated into 17 languages to reach a broad international audience.
Development is still ongoing, and players will need to wait before experiencing the first chapter. The studio plans to release a free playable demo during Steam Next Fest in October 2027, giving players an early opportunity to explore the mysterious city and its unsettling mysteries before the full adventure begins. With its combination of psychological horror, branching storytelling, handcrafted visuals, and a strong focus on atmosphere, SHORAPAN: Beneath the Crimson Sky is positioning itself as an intriguing addition to the growing lineup of narrative-driven horror games arriving on Steam.
