Wardogs Developers Detail Optimization Efforts and Open Sign-Ups for Closed Playtest

Bulkhead Interactive has shared new details about Wardogs, outlining the team's ongoing optimization work while inviting players to participate in an upcoming closed playtest. The developers say performance has been one of their top priorities throughout development, with testing focused on delivering stable gameplay across a wide range of PC hardware. At the same time, registrations are now open for players interested in helping evaluate the tactical shooter before its Early Access launch.

According to the studio, recent internal and community tests have provided valuable feedback on performance, networking, and large-scale battles involving up to 100 players. The team has been refining server stability, frame rates, and Unreal Engine 5 optimization to ensure smooth gameplay even during the game's most intense firefights. Developers also noted that player feedback from previous sessions has directly influenced improvements ahead of the next testing phase.

Wardogs aims to stand out in the tactical shooter genre by combining large-scale warfare, fully destructible environments, land and air vehicles, and an economy system that rewards teamwork rather than individual eliminations. Instead of battle royale or extraction mechanics, matches revolve around coordinated squad play and territorial control, encouraging strategic decision-making across massive battlefields. The game is scheduled to launch in Steam Early Access later this year.
