Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Heads to Switch 2 With Massive Update and New DLC Fighter

Cygames and Arc System Works have announced a major content update for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, confirming that Version 2.60 will launch on September 17, 2026, alongside the game's long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 release. The update introduces a brand-new playable character, fresh gameplay features, and extensive balance adjustments, making it one of the biggest expansions since the fighting game's original launch.

The headline addition is Id, the powerful swordsman from Granblue Fantasy: Relink, who joins the roster as the latest DLC fighter. Alongside the new character, Version 2.60 adds the Ainsted Archipelago stage, introduces a brand-new gameplay mechanic, rebalances the entire roster, and includes additional costumes, quality-of-life improvements, and system refinements aimed at both competitive and casual players. The full patch notes will be released closer to launch.

The Nintendo Switch 2 edition will launch on the same day as the update, bringing the complete Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising experience to Nintendo's newest console. Players on Switch 2 will receive the same content as existing platforms, including rollback netcode, cross-platform features, and access to future updates. Cygames also confirmed new save-data bonuses for players who own Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok, unlocking exclusive cosmetics such as an alternate weapon skin for Id and a special lobby avatar.
