Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Requires 65 GB of Storage—Nearly Double the Original Game
Ubisoft has officially confirmed the storage requirements for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, revealing that the upcoming remake will require 65 GB of free disk space on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. While this is modest by modern AAA standards, it is almost twice the size of the original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, which occupied roughly 30 GB on most platforms. The increase reflects the game's extensive visual overhaul and expanded content.

The larger installation size is largely due to the remake's rebuilt assets and modern technology. Black Flag Resynced has been recreated using the latest version of Ubisoft's Anvil Engine, featuring high-resolution textures, redesigned character models, ray-traced global illumination, enhanced reflections, physically based materials, improved water simulation, and dynamic weather effects. Ubisoft has also confirmed that an SSD is mandatory on PC to ensure smooth asset streaming and fast loading times.
Beyond graphical improvements, the remake includes a significant amount of new gameplay content. Players can expect additional story scenes, redesigned naval encounters, expanded ship customization, new enemy types, improved stealth mechanics, modernized parkour, enhanced sword combat, and several quality-of-life upgrades. These additions contribute to the increased storage footprint while making Black Flag Resynced far more than a simple visual remaster.
Despite nearly doubling in size compared to the 2013 original, 65 GB remains relatively reasonable for a modern open-world game, especially considering the scale of the technical improvements. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launches on July 9, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, promising the definitive version of Edward Kenway's legendary pirate adventure with next-generation visuals, updated gameplay systems, and a significantly expanded experience.
