Owlcat Games has announced that all current and future DLC for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader will be available free of charge for Nintendo Switch 2 players. The decision comes after the game's difficult launch on the platform, which was heavily criticized for poor performance, long loading times, crashes, and technical issues. Alongside the announcement, the studio released a major update focused on improving stability and overall performance.

In a message to the community, Owlcat apologized for the launch, admitting that the team underestimated the technical challenges of bringing the RPG to Nintendo Switch 2. The developers said the new patch includes numerous bug fixes, frame rate optimizations, visual improvements, and interface enhancements. As a goodwill gesture, Switch 2 owners will receive the Digital Deluxe content as well as every expansion, including Void Shadows, Lex Imperialis, and the two upcoming DLC releases, at no additional cost.

The studio described the move as part of its commitment to rebuilding player trust after the disappointing release. While the free DLC offer applies only to the Nintendo Switch 2 version, Owlcat says it will continue supporting the game across all platforms with future patches and content updates. The developer hopes the latest improvements will transform the handheld version into the experience originally intended for players.

Released in 2023, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader has been praised for its deep tactical combat and rich storytelling, despite technical issues on some platforms. With a substantial optimization update and free DLC now available for Switch 2 users, Owlcat is aiming to turn one of its most criticized launches into a successful long-term version of the game.
