Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 & 2 PS5 Ports Spark Backlash — No 120 FPS, No FOV Slider, No Visual Upgrades

The newly released Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II ports for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 are facing criticism from fans after players discovered that the games include virtually no technical improvements over the original versions. Despite arriving on modern hardware, the ports do not support 120 FPS, lack a Field of View (FOV) slider, and feature no graphical enhancements, leaving many players disappointed.

According to multiple reports, both titles run with the same visual presentation as their original releases, with the PS5 versions also limited to 1080p resolution instead of offering native 4K support. Players had hoped for smoother performance, upgraded textures, improved lighting, or at least quality-of-life features common in modern Call of Duty releases, but none of those additions made it into these ports.

The lack of upgrades has become one of the biggest talking points surrounding the launch. Many fans have described the releases as straight ports rather than remasters, arguing that Activision missed an opportunity to modernize two of the franchise's most beloved games. Social media and community forums quickly filled with criticism, particularly regarding the absence of a 120 Hz mode, FOV customization, and any meaningful graphical improvements.

Despite the backlash, nostalgia remains strong. Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops II continue to be regarded as two of the most iconic entries in the series, and their arrival on PS4 and PS5 has generated significant interest from longtime fans. However, many players are now hoping Activision will address at least some of the missing features in future updates, though the company has not announced any plans to do so.
