Rogue Carrier Is One of 2026's Most Surprising Strategy Games — Hooded Horse Reveals Ambitious Ocean Survival Roguelite
Publisher Hooded Horse has officially unveiled Rogue Carrier, an ambitious new roguelite colony management game that combines city building, survival, and exploration aboard a massive ocean-faring ship. Developed by Wild Fields, the game takes players to the alien world of Keeling-IV, where a failed scientific expedition must transform its mobile vessel into a thriving floating colony while uncovering the secrets of a living planet determined to fight back.

Unlike traditional city builders, Rogue Carrier challenges players to construct an entire settlement on the deck of a giant ship that constantly sails across dangerous oceans. Managing limited space is just as important as gathering resources, producing supplies, and keeping the crew alive. The game features more than 80 buildings, branching technology upgrades, complex production chains, and a dynamic decision system where every choice can unlock new opportunities—or create fresh problems later in the campaign.
The roguelite structure ensures that every expedition is different. As players explore islands, abandoned settlements, and mysterious anomalies, they will unlock permanent upgrades, discover new technologies, and uncover multiple story paths across five different endings. Meanwhile, the sentient planet reacts to the player's actions, unleashing violent storms, colossal sea creatures, and other environmental threats that grow more dangerous the longer the expedition survives.
Although Rogue Carrier does not yet have a release date, the announcement has already attracted attention from strategy fans thanks to its unusual blend of city building, colony management, roguelite progression, and naval exploration. With Hooded Horse continuing its streak of acclaimed strategy releases, Rogue Carrier is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing simulation games currently in development.
