Pearl Abyss Confirms Crimson Desert Is Already Running on Nintendo Switch 2
Pearl Abyss has confirmed that Crimson Desert is already running on Nintendo Switch 2, with active development of the port currently underway. Speaking about the project's future, the studio said it has reached a stage where the game is playable on Nintendo's new hardware, though optimization work is still ongoing. The developer emphasized that its goal is to bring the open-world action RPG to as many platforms as possible without compromising the core gameplay experience.

According to the studio, the biggest challenge is preserving Crimson Desert's large-scale open world, fast-paced combat, and visual quality on less powerful hardware. Pearl Abyss explained that simply making the game run is not enough—the team wants the Nintendo Switch 2 version to deliver an experience comparable to other platforms. As a result, engineers are continuing to evaluate technical compromises while improving overall performance.
Although development is progressing, Pearl Abyss has not announced a release window for the Switch 2 edition. The company stressed that work on the port remains in progress and that a launch will only happen if the team is satisfied with the final quality. No details have been shared regarding potential graphical reductions or exclusive features for Nintendo's platform.
Originally released for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and macOS, Crimson Desert has become one of Pearl Abyss' biggest projects. The confirmation that a Switch 2 version is already playable suggests the studio remains committed to expanding the game's audience, even if players may have to wait longer for an official release announcement.
