NVIDIA App Adds 4K 240 FPS ShadowPlay Recording for GeForce RTX Users
NVIDIA has released a new beta update for the NVIDIA App, introducing a major upgrade to ShadowPlay that allows gameplay recording at up to 4K resolution and 240 frames per second. The new feature is designed for players and content creators who want ultra-smooth footage for highlights, slow-motion clips, and professional-quality videos. Support is available on GeForce RTX 40 and RTX 50 Series graphics cards equipped with dual NVENC encoders, while GPUs with a single encoder can record at 1440p and 240 FPS.

The update also expands ShadowPlay's recording options without significantly increasing system overhead thanks to NVIDIA's dedicated hardware video encoder. Users can enable the new capture mode through the in-game overlay by opening Alt + Z, navigating to Settings, and selecting the updated video capture options. NVIDIA says the feature is especially useful for competitive gaming, where higher frame-rate recordings make it easier to analyze gameplay or create smooth slow-motion replays.
In addition to the enhanced recording capabilities, the latest NVIDIA App beta includes improvements to NVIDIA Surround display management, giving multi-monitor users more flexibility when configuring their gaming setup. The update continues NVIDIA's effort to replace GeForce Experience with a unified application that combines driver updates, performance tools, game optimization, and capture features in a single interface.
The new ShadowPlay functionality is currently available through the NVIDIA App beta, with a stable release expected after further testing. For GeForce RTX users who regularly record gameplay or create gaming content, the update delivers one of the biggest improvements to NVIDIA's built-in capture tools in recent years.
