Subnautica 2 Update 1.1 Adds Biomods, Smarter Creatures, and Major Quality-of-Life Improvements

Unknown Worlds Entertainment has released Subnautica 2 Early Access Update 1.1, titled Adaptive Measures, bringing the first major post-launch content update to the underwater survival game. The patch expands the Biomod progression system, improves creature behavior, introduces new exploration mechanics, and delivers a wide range of quality-of-life improvements requested by the community. The update is now available as a free download for all Early Access players.

One of the biggest additions is an expanded Biomod system, with new BioLabs appearing earlier in the game and additional passive Biomod slots unlocked through late-game creature scanning. The update also improves combat feedback by adding visible flinch and stun reactions for hostile creatures, making encounters easier to read without changing the game's survival-focused design. Wreck exploration has been enhanced with new environmental puzzles, while a manual personal storage container gives players greater control over resource management.

Update 1.1 also introduces numerous quality-of-life features, including an FOV slider, redesigned PDA audio playback, better dialogue prioritization, and various performance optimizations and bug fixes. According to Unknown Worlds, these changes are based directly on community feedback collected since the game's Early Access launch. The studio confirmed that additional multiplayer improvements, including proximity voice chat and player revives, are planned for the upcoming Update 1.2.

Unknown Worlds describes Adaptive Measures as the first step in Subnautica 2's evolving Early Access roadmap. With gameplay refinements, improved exploration, and more responsive creature behavior now available, the update lays the foundation for larger content expansions that will introduce new regions, vehicles, story content, and additional survival systems later this year.
