Blizzard Transfers Overwatch Publishing in South Korea to Nexon Amid Xbox Restructuring
Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed that Nexon will take over publishing and live service operations for the PC version of Overwatch in South Korea, with the transition scheduled for August 12. The move coincides with the launch of Overwatch Season 4 in the region and is designed to provide a more localized experience for Korean players. Blizzard will continue to develop the game globally, while Nexon will oversee regional publishing, community support, and live operations.

Under the new agreement, Korean PC players must link their Battle.net and Nexon accounts before the service migration. Nexon has promised exclusive regional events, PC Bang support, localized content, and community programs tailored specifically for the Korean market. Blizzard emphasized that the partnership is intended to strengthen Overwatch's presence in one of its most important esports regions without changing the game's core gameplay or competitive balance.
The announcement comes during a period of significant restructuring across Microsoft's Xbox gaming division, leading to speculation about Blizzard's future publishing strategy. However, neither Microsoft nor Blizzard has linked the Nexon partnership to the broader organizational changes, describing it instead as part of a long-term effort to improve regional live service operations. Reports connecting the two events remain speculative.
The publishing transition affects only the PC version of Overwatch in South Korea, while Blizzard will continue operating the game in all other regions and on console platforms. With account migration already underway, both companies say the goal is to deliver a smoother, more localized experience while preserving the core Overwatch experience that players know today.
