DOOM: The Dark Ages – Revelations Gameplay Trailer Highlights Brutal New Weapons and Demons

id Software has released an action-packed gameplay trailer for DOOM: The Dark Ages – Revelations, offering the most detailed look yet at the game's first major story expansion. The footage showcases new environments, terrifying demonic enemies, and several powerful combat additions, including the Chain Spear, a weapon that lets the Doom Slayer pull enemies closer, close distances instantly, and unlock new combat strategies. The expansion launched alongside the free Ripatorium 3.0 update on July 7 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The trailer also reveals a series of new locations, ranging from frozen hellscapes to massive fortress-like structures filled with environmental hazards and hidden paths. According to id Software, the expansion places a greater emphasis on exploration, introducing more optional secrets and larger combat arenas while preserving the fast-paced action that defines the modern DOOM series. Players will also face several previously unseen demon types designed to challenge experienced Slayer veterans.

In addition to the paid campaign, all players receive the Ripatorium 3.0 update, which adds three new challenge maps, new enemy encounters, fully upgraded weapons, and expanded gameplay customization options. Bethesda says the update is intended to extend replayability by giving players more opportunities to experiment with advanced combat mechanics outside the main campaign.

With Revelations, id Software continues to expand the story of the Doom Slayer while introducing fresh weapons, enemies, and gameplay systems. The combination of a substantial campaign expansion and free endgame content makes this one of the biggest post-launch updates for DOOM: The Dark Ages, offering both new story content and additional challenges for longtime fans.
