NetEase Unveils Hidden Blade, a Free-to-Play Extraction Action Game Built on Unreal Engine 5
NetEase Games has officially announced Hidden Blade, a new free-to-play extraction action game powered by Unreal Engine 5. Set in a dark world inspired by ancient Chinese folklore, the game blends fast-paced melee combat with PvPvE extraction mechanics, challenging players to battle both rival teams and supernatural enemies while escaping with valuable loot. The reveal trailer highlights cinematic visuals, atmospheric environments, and brutal close-quarters combat, positioning Hidden Blade as one of NetEase's most ambitious multiplayer projects.

Unlike traditional extraction shooters, Hidden Blade focuses on swordplay, stealth, and tactical survival instead of firearms. Players will explore dangerous maps filled with monsters, hidden treasures, and other competitors, deciding whether to continue searching for better rewards or extract before losing everything. NetEase says the game is designed to reward careful planning, teamwork, and skill-based combat, with Unreal Engine 5 helping deliver highly detailed environments and dynamic lighting.
The developer has also confirmed that the first PC playtest is scheduled to begin on August 7, giving players an early opportunity to experience the game's core mechanics and provide feedback before launch. Although a full release date has not yet been announced, Hidden Blade is expected to receive additional tests as development continues.
With its combination of extraction gameplay, melee-focused combat, and Chinese fantasy themes, Hidden Blade aims to stand out in the increasingly competitive multiplayer market. As NetEase continues expanding its portfolio of AAA titles, the project has already attracted attention from players looking for a fresh take on the extraction genre powered by Unreal Engine 5.
