The Elder Scrolls Online Kicks Off Season One: Return of the Thieves Guild

The Elder Scrolls Online has officially launched Season One: Return of the Thieves Guild, introducing the game's first seasonal content update under its new live-service model. Available now on PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox, the season runs until October 21 and is free for all players who own the base game. The update marks a major shift away from ESO's traditional annual Chapter expansions, delivering new story content and gameplay through seasonal releases instead.

The headline feature is a brand-new Thieves Guild storyline set in Glenumbra, where players reunite with Quen to rebuild the legendary guild and investigate a dangerous conspiracy. Season One also introduces Dynamic Encounters, spontaneous world events that appear throughout Tamriel, along with Favors, Rumors, and new exploration activities designed to make the game world feel more dynamic. Additional content, including the Crimson Veldt Trial and a new Sheogorath questline, will arrive later during the season.

Alongside the new content, ZeniMax Online Studios has expanded player progression with the Sage's Vault reward system and continued refining ESO's seasonal structure. Unlike previous paid Chapters, all core gameplay additions released during Season One are included for base-game owners, while optional premium rewards remain available through the game's monetization systems. The new approach is intended to provide more frequent updates throughout the year while keeping the community on the same content cycle.
