Valve has released the Season 5 update for Counter-Strike 2, introducing one of the game's biggest competitive patches to date. The update marks the start of a new Premier season, brings the iconic Cache map back to the Active Duty pool in place of Overpass, and completely redesigns how C4 explosion damage is calculated. Season 5 also adds new Armory collections, community maps, and numerous gameplay improvements aimed at both competitive and casual players.

One of the most significant gameplay changes affects the bomb explosion. Instead of using the previous damage model, the blast now applies more consistent damage based on a player's position relative to the explosion. The update also introduces a visual indicator showing how much health will be lost before the bomb detonates, giving players clearer information when deciding whether to save or attempt a last-second defuse.

Season 5 also refreshes the game's content with two new Armory weapon collections—Spy Tech and Arabesque—alongside the Auto Racing and Fruits & Vegetables sticker collections. Valve has expanded the map selection by adding several new community maps while rotating older collections out of the Armory. Numerous bug fixes and Source 2 performance improvements are included as well, helping deliver a smoother competitive experience.

The return of Cache is expected to have the biggest impact on the competitive scene, as the fan-favorite map once again becomes part of the Premier rotation. Combined with the C4 rework and fresh cosmetic content, Season 5 represents one of Counter-Strike 2's largest updates of the year and signals Valve's continued focus on refining the game's competitive experience.
