Sony Begins Lifting Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Region Locks After Community Backlash

Sony Interactive Entertainment has started removing regional restrictions for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls on Steam, following widespread criticism from players over the game's availability. Earlier this month, the upcoming fighting game was unavailable for purchase in more than 130 countries because of PlayStation Network (PSN) availability, sparking backlash from the global fighting game community. According to recent reports, the game has now become available in several previously blocked regions, suggesting that Sony is gradually easing the restrictions after listening to player feedback.

The original controversy closely resembled the situation surrounding Helldivers 2, when PSN requirements prevented players in unsupported countries from accessing the game. Fans quickly launched online campaigns urging Sony to reconsider its policy, arguing that regional locks would significantly reduce the competitive player base for a title designed around online multiplayer and esports. The criticism was especially strong from countries with active fighting game communities that lack official PSN support.

Although Sony has not released an official statement explaining the change, updated Steam listings indicate that access has already been restored in several regions. However, the rollout does not appear to be complete, as some countries remain unable to purchase the game. Players continue to monitor SteamDB and regional storefronts while waiting for confirmation that the restrictions will be lifted worldwide before launch.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is scheduled to launch on August 6, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC. While some regional restrictions are still in place, Sony's decision to begin restoring access marks the first major response to community feedback and gives hope that more players around the world will be able to join the game when it officially releases.
