Tempest Rising Gets Massive New Expansion — The Veti's Wrath Announced With a Free Playable Demo
Tempest Rising is getting its biggest post-launch expansion yet. Developer Slipgate Ironworks has officially unveiled The Veti's Wrath, a brand-new story expansion that introduces the long-awaited Veti as a fully playable faction. Alongside the announcement, the studio released a free demo on Steam, allowing players to experience the opening missions of the new campaign and try the faction before the expansion launches later this year.

The expansion delivers an entirely new 11-mission single-player campaign, continuing the story after the events of the original game. Players will command the technologically advanced Veti as they fight to reclaim Earth using unique mechanics centered around sacrificing fallen enemies to strengthen their forces. The faction features an entirely new roster, including 9 buildings, 7 vehicles, 6 infantry units, 5 aircraft, powerful support abilities, and a devastating superweapon, making it the most ambitious addition to Tempest Rising so far.
The newly released demo includes the first two missions of the Veti campaign, while also letting players test the faction in Skirmish and custom multiplayer matches against AI opponents. Once the expansion launches, the Veti faction will be available for free in multiplayer to all owners of the base game, while only the story campaign will require purchasing the DLC. This approach ensures the multiplayer community remains united without splitting players between paid and free content.
With The Veti's Wrath, Tempest Rising continues to expand its Command & Conquer-inspired RTS formula with fresh mechanics, a brand-new faction, and additional story content. Combined with the free demo already available, the expansion gives both newcomers and longtime fans an early look at what could become the game's biggest update since launch.
