Halo: Campaign Evolved Gameplay Deep Dive Reveals New Missions, Vehicles, and the Biggest Campaign Overhaul Yet

Halo Studios has shared an extensive new gameplay livestream for Halo: Campaign Evolved, giving fans their most detailed look yet at the ambitious remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved. The presentation showcased expanded gameplay systems, redesigned missions, new vehicles, cooperative features, and several quality-of-life improvements that modernize the legendary campaign while preserving its classic feel.

One of the biggest reveals was the addition of three brand-new story missions, expanding Master Chief's original adventure with previously unseen locations and narrative moments. The livestream also confirmed an expanded arsenal that includes iconic weapons from later Halo games, such as the Energy Sword, Battle Rifle, and Sentinel Beam, alongside new gameplay mechanics like vehicle hijacking, which finally allows players to commandeer Covenant vehicles including the powerful Wraith tank. The redesigned Warthog now features a fourth seat, making four-player co-op feel more natural than ever before.

The developers also highlighted the game's completely rebuilt visuals in Unreal Engine 5, enhanced AI behavior, improved controls, and a wide range of replayability features. Players will be able to activate dozens of Skulls—more than in any previous Halo campaign—to randomize weapons, modify enemy behavior, and dramatically change how each mission plays. Online four-player co-op, full cross-play, cross-progression, and two-player split-screen on consoles were also demonstrated, emphasizing Halo Studios' focus on making the campaign highly replayable with friends.

Launching on July 28, 2026, with Premium and Collector's Edition owners receiving early access on July 23, Halo: Campaign Evolved is shaping up to be far more than a visual remake. By combining modern gameplay mechanics, new story content, expanded cooperative play, and faithfully recreated classic missions, Halo Studios aims to deliver the definitive version of one of the most influential first-person shooters ever made—while introducing Halo to PlayStation 5 players for the very first time.
