Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced a limited-time Free Online Multiplayer Weekend, allowing PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 owners to play online without a PlayStation Plus subscription. The promotion runs from July 3 through July 5, giving players three full days to access multiplayer modes in supported games completely free of charge. The event coincides with the Esports World Cup celebrations and is designed to encourage more players to jump into online gaming.

During the promotion, players can access online multiplayer in any title that normally requires a PlayStation Plus membership. Popular games such as EA Sports FC 26, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Helldivers 2, Gran Turismo 7, and many other multiplayer experiences will be fully playable online without purchasing a subscription. The offer is available to all eligible PS4 and PS5 users, regardless of whether they have previously subscribed to PlayStation Plus.

It's important to note that the event only removes the PlayStation Plus requirement for online multiplayer. Other subscription benefits—including the monthly game catalog, cloud saves, exclusive discounts, and the Extra and Premium game libraries—remain exclusive to active PlayStation Plus members. Once the promotion ends on July 5, online multiplayer will once again require an active subscription for most paid games.

Sony regularly hosts these free multiplayer weekends a few times each year, giving players an opportunity to experience online gaming before deciding whether to subscribe. With several major multiplayer titles and live-service games currently attracting large player bases, the three-day event offers a perfect opportunity for PlayStation owners to reconnect with friends or try competitive online modes at no additional cost.
