Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Earns Steam Deck Verified Status Ahead of Launch
Just days before release, Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has officially received Steam Deck Verified certification. The designation means Valve has tested the remake and determined that it offers a smooth experience on the handheld without requiring additional setup, allowing players to enjoy Edward Kenway’s pirate adventure on the go from day one.

According to Ubisoft, the team has spent months optimizing the remake for portable hardware. The Steam Deck version features a controller-friendly interface, readable text, stable performance, and compatibility with SteamOS, ensuring players can seamlessly switch between desktop and handheld play. The game also includes dedicated handheld graphics presets designed to balance image quality and battery life.
Built with the latest version of Ubisoft’s Anvil engine, Black Flag Resynced modernizes the 2013 classic with rebuilt visuals, ray tracing, enhanced weather effects, improved naval gameplay, refined parkour, and updated combat mechanics while remaining faithful to the original story of pirate-turned-Assassin Edward Kenway. Ubisoft has also expanded the experience with additional side content, new sea shanties, extra ship customization options, and fresh story sequences featuring characters such as Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launches on July 9, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Receiving Steam Deck Verified status before release is another positive milestone for the remake, especially as portable PC gaming continues to grow in popularity. For Steam Deck owners, the certification offers confidence that they can set sail across the Caribbean on launch day with a fully optimized handheld experience.
