Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Expands Underwater Exploration With New Shipwrecks and Hidden Secrets
Ubisoft has revealed that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will significantly expand one of the original game's most memorable features—underwater exploration. According to the development team, players will no longer be limited to designated diving locations. Instead, Edward Kenway will be able to dive almost anywhere in the Caribbean, opening the door to a much richer world filled with hidden treasures, forgotten shipwrecks, and optional discoveries.

The new "Dive Anywhere" system transforms underwater exploration into a core part of the open-world experience. Rather than using only scripted diving bell missions, players can leave the Jackdaw and freely explore the ocean floor whenever they spot an interesting location. Ubisoft says the remake introduces numerous new wrecks, secret caves, collectibles, and environmental stories hidden beneath the waves, rewarding curious players who venture off the beaten path.
Beyond the additional secrets, the underwater world has been rebuilt with modern technology. Marine environments now feature denser coral reefs, improved lighting, more detailed sea life, dynamic water effects, and enhanced visibility, making each dive feel more immersive than in the 2013 original. The expanded exploration system also ties into the remake's seamless open world, allowing players to transition naturally between sailing, island exploration, and underwater expeditions without disrupting the flow of gameplay.
These improvements are part of Ubisoft's broader goal of making Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced feel like more than a visual remake. Alongside modernized combat, updated naval mechanics, additional story content, and expanded ship customization, the enhanced underwater exploration gives veteran players plenty of fresh discoveries while preserving the pirate adventure that made Black Flag one of the franchise's most beloved entries. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launches on July 9, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
