The Sims 4 Overhauls Notifications to Reduce Spam Calls and Endless Loading Issues

Maxis has released a major quality-of-life update for The Sims 4, introducing a comprehensive overhaul of the game's notification and phone call system. The update significantly reduces repetitive interruptions during Live Mode while also addressing several long-standing technical issues, including infinite loading problems and dozens of community-requested bug fixes.

One of the biggest changes is the complete redesign of Live Mode notifications. Players now have much greater control over incoming calls and alerts, including a new Festival Notifications menu that allows notifications to be enabled or disabled on a per-world basis. The "Silence Phone" option has also been expanded to block all phone calls correctly, while random Sims will no longer constantly interrupt gameplay with irrelevant invitations, dating advice, or repetitive friendship updates. Phone calls are now more context-sensitive, with most interactions requiring Sims to already have an established friendship before reaching out.

The update also tackles one of the community's most frustrating technical problems. On Mac, Maxis has relocated temporary scratch files to reduce conflicts with cloud storage services, resulting in noticeably fewer cases of infinite loading and save corruption. In addition, the patch delivers more than 70 bug fixes, addressing issues with Gallery uploads, pet adoption, careers, relationships, Build Mode, Create-a-Sim, occult Sims, and numerous expansion packs.

According to Maxis, this update focuses on feedback collected directly from the community, resolving 12 of the most-requested issues alongside the broader quality-of-life improvements. By reducing notification spam, improving social interactions, and fixing a wide range of gameplay and technical problems, the latest patch aims to make everyday life in The Sims 4 feel smoother, less intrusive, and far more enjoyable for both new and longtime players.
