Doug Cockle, the iconic English voice of Geralt of Rivia, has revealed that he nearly lost the role that made him famous and says he has no plans to step away from the White Wolf anytime soon. In a recent interview celebrating more than 20 years with The Witcher series, Cockle admitted he would happily continue voicing Geralt "until old age"—even joking that he'd return for The Witcher 18 if given the opportunity.

Cockle explained that his journey with Geralt almost came to an unexpected end during the development of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. CD Projekt Red decided to recast much of the English voice cast, and for a time he believed he would also be replaced. Fortunately, the studio ultimately chose to keep him as Geralt, a decision that helped establish one of the most recognizable voices in video game history.

Looking back on two decades with the franchise, Cockle said portraying Geralt has been one of the greatest experiences of his career. He emphasized that he still enjoys playing the character and would gladly return for future installments as long as CD Projekt Red continues to call. His comments are especially meaningful now that the studio has confirmed Geralt will appear in The Witcher 4, although Ciri will take over as the new main protagonist.

For millions of fans, Doug Cockle's deep, unmistakable performance has become inseparable from Geralt of Rivia. While The Witcher 4 marks the beginning of a new saga, the legendary voice actor's willingness to continue portraying the White Wolf is welcome news for longtime players. Whether Geralt appears in future sequels, spin-offs, or even a hypothetical The Witcher 18, Cockle made it clear that he's more than ready to keep hunting monsters for many years to come.
